who we are

Dr. Patrick Byrne is a Co-Founder of BDHV.  He currently is a Professor and Director of the Division of Facial and Reconstructive Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He has also served for over a decade as a medical director for Johns Hopkins Medicine International, overseeing clinical program development, medical staff compliance, and accreditation for hospitals and clinics.  Dr. Byrne is also the Chief Medical Officer of Aegeria, an biomedical startup spinoff from Johns Hopkins.  Dr. Byrne is an Editorial Board Member of the JAMA Network and Director on the Board of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  He sits on a number of non-profit Boards and is active in a number of philanthropic causes.  Dr. Byrne holds an MBA from Wharton and MD from the UC San Diego School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency.

Matthew Daugherty is a Co-Founder of BDHV, and has deep experience as a healthcare executive and advisor.  He led strategy, corporate development, and was Chief of Staff for Landmark Health medical group, the national leader in home-based primary care for the chronically ill.  Prior to Landmark, he led clinical strategy, IT finance, and technology strategy for WellCare, a major health insurance payer focused on Medicare and Medicaid.  Mr. Daugherty also was a management consultant at KPMG, focused primarily on healthcare, technology strategy, and strategic planning.  He currently advises Private Equity firms on healthcare platform development and investment strategy.  Mr. Daugherty holds an MBA from Wharton, and an MS in Operations Management and BS in Biochemistry & Genetics from the University of Florida.
